US Employment Statistics Revised Upward by 185,000
The monthly employment statistics in the United States are expected to be revised upward for the first time since 2022. The official figures will be released on the 28th at 11 PM. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is set to announce the 'Preliminary Benchmark Revision of CES as of March 2026.' This announcement is part of a procedure to recalibrate the accuracy of the monthly employment report, adjusting CES estimates to align with the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) and Unemployment Insurance (UI) tax records. The UI records encompass approximately 12.1 million businesses and about 97% of total non-farm employment. Recently, downward revisions have been predominant, with total non-farm employment revised upward by 506,000 in March 2022, followed by downward revisions of 187,000 in 2023, 598,000 in 2024, and 861,000 in 2025. If this year's figures come out positive, it will mark the first upward revision since 2022. MNI has projected a preliminary benchmark revision of 185,000 upward before the announcement, while Goldman Sachs mentioned a potential upward revision ranging from 50,000 to 450,000. Changes in employment statistics could impact expectations for the dollar, Treasury yields, stocks, and cryptocurrency rates. The final benchmark revision is expected to be reflected in February 2027.
