Mastercard Launches Stablecoin Payment Risk Assessment Tool
Mastercard has launched a risk intelligence service called Stablecoin Security at the Money20/20 USA conference, aimed at helping financial institutions assess the risks associated with stablecoin payments before funds are put on the blockchain. This tool traces the source of funds, identifies potential links to fraud, scams, sanctions violations, and other financial crimes, and integrates with banks' existing anti-fraud and compliance systems via API. The first partners include Borderless.xyz and Keyrails. This service will initially be rolled out in North America, with a global commercial launch expected in 2027, and will incorporate BVNK, which was acquired in August of this year, next year.
