HashKey and Franklin Templeton Collaborate! "On-chain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund" Enters Asia
U.S. asset management giant Franklin Templeton has partnered with Hong Kong licensed cryptocurrency exchange HashKey Exchange to introduce its tokenized money market fund to the Asian market, further expanding its footprint in the digital asset landscape in Asia.
HashKey Exchange announced on Monday that its HashKey Earn channel has officially launched the "Franklin On-chain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund (grBENJI)". This fund primarily invests in U.S. government money market instruments and U.S. dollar cash assets.
However, due to local regulatory restrictions, this fund is currently only open to qualified professional investors, and retail investors are not yet able to participate. Regarding this collaboration, Chetan Karkhanis, Senior Vice President of Digital Asset Client Business at Franklin Templeton, stated:
Leveraging HashKey Exchange's multi-jurisdictional platform across Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Dubai, and Bermuda, we look forward to deepening this partnership over time and expanding our product offerings beyond tokenized money market funds to other tokenized products.
HashKey Exchange CEO Ru Haiyang pointed out: "By introducing the Franklin On-chain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund (grBENJI) into our wealth management channel, we are directly addressing the growing demand from institutions for compliant real-world asset (RWA) yield solutions. This collaboration connects traditional finance with secure and compliant on-chain infrastructure, setting a new benchmark for transparency and capital market innovation in the region."
In recent years, Franklin Templeton has been actively expanding its digital asset presence in the Asian market. As early as November 2025, the company responded to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's "Fintech 2030" vision by launching Hong Kong's first tokenized money market fund, the "Franklin On-chain U.S. Government Money Fund," becoming an important indicator of local fintech innovation.
Franklin Templeton's proactive entry also reflects the explosive growth wave of "tokenization of real-world assets (RWA)". According to data tracking platform RWA.xyz, as of August 23 this year, the total market value of global RWA has surged to $38.2 billion, showing explosive growth compared to $20.6 billion in the same period last year, with the scale of tokenized U.S. Treasury bonds reaching $15.6 billion, highly favored by institutional funds.
