Warsh's Jackson Hole Speech Sparks Hopes for Bond Market Recovery
Jeremy Siegel, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, stated that Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at Jackson Hole could serve as a catalyst for a rebound in the bond market. Professor Siegel mentioned that if Warsh provides specific indicators regarding the Fed's monetary policy decisions, the market is likely to respond positively. He predicted that bond prices could rise significantly on Friday, explaining that bond prices move inversely to interest rates. Recently, the U.S. bond market has reflected concerns over inflation and fiscal burdens, with the yield on 10-year Treasury bonds falling by 3 basis points and the yield on 30-year Treasury bonds dropping by 4 basis points. While Professor Siegel assessed that the current level of interest rates does not pose a serious warning signal for the financial markets, he cautioned that if Warsh provides disappointing information, the market reaction could change. Investors are also expected to pay attention to communications between Chair Warsh and Treasury Secretary Scott Vessen.
