Trump Expected to Appoint Jay Clayton as White House AI Chief
President Trump is expected to appoint current Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton as the new White House AI chief, with an announcement possibly as early as Friday. White House officials stated that any personnel appointment will be directly announced by Trump himself, and reports regarding this are speculative until officially confirmed. Clayton is expected to continue serving as Director of National Intelligence; he previously served as the chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and led the SEC during Trump's first presidential term. Last month, Trump announced plans to establish an AI Force and appoint an AI chief to address the rapidly evolving regulatory discussions surrounding AI, stating that Clayton is a suitable candidate.
