Qualcomm Partners with Amazon to Develop Custom AI Data Center Chips
Qualcomm has entered into a multi-generational partnership with Amazon to provide customized chips for large-scale AI data centers and advance AI inference. The two companies will jointly develop optical interconnect solutions with a capacity of up to 1.6T and future generations. Qualcomm plans to leverage AWS AI infrastructure, including Amazon Bedrock, for electronic design automation workloads to shorten chip design cycles. Cristiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm, stated that with the accelerating demand for AI, data center infrastructure needs breakthroughs in computing and connectivity. Prasad Kalyanaraman, Vice President of AWS, noted that this collaboration is based on a strong partnership aimed at providing customers with more efficient and cost-effective infrastructure. Qualcomm's pre-market stock price rose by 10%.
