Polymarket US Weekly Trading Volume Reaches $870 Million, Approaching International Polymarket
The weekly trading volume of Polymarket US has increased to $870 million, nearing the $1.2 billion of the international Polymarket. According to Galaxy Research, this figure has rapidly expanded from $60 million six months ago. Polymarket operates separate markets for its US user app and international user website, with US users unable to trade on the website. Polymarket received approval for a modified designation order from the CFTC on November 25, 2025, allowing it to operate as a brokerage trading platform. In July 2026, the combined monthly trading volume of Kalshi, Polymarket, and Polymarket US reached $50.59 billion, a 7.8% increase from the previous month. Although Polymarket's monthly trading volume in July was $7.9 billion, a 26% decrease, Polymarket US saw a 54% increase to $5 billion. The FIFA World Cup contributed to the increase in trading volume, with Kalshi's final market recording $1.9 billion and Polymarket's winner prediction market reaching $4 billion. However, trading volume differs from deposits, and some of the volume may be interpreted as wash trading. Regulatory disputes remain, with some state regulatory agencies questioning Kalshi and Polymarket as unlicensed gambling platforms.
