Major US Banks Develop AI Risk Contingency Plans
Major US banks are formulating contingency plans for significant incidents related to AI to protect accounts, restore customer access, and maintain operations. Institutions such as Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, and Bank of America are restricting third-party AI agents' access and adjusting relevant rules. Banks are concerned that customers may provide login credentials to AI agents, which could then perform actions without explicit user approval, making it difficult for banks to determine whether related activities are authorized by users. The banks stated that they have not yet found evidence of uncontrolled agents or hacking attacks affecting customer funds and accounts.
