Iran's Foreign Minister Proposes Two-Day Plan to Resume Iran-U.S. Negotiations
In an interview on November 1, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian stated that the Iranian delegation's visit to Qatar is a continuation of ongoing communication with mediators. The proposal put forth by Iran is largely similar to the previous seven-day plan, with Qatar and Pakistan, among other mediators, also suggesting more feasible alternatives. Amir-Abdollahian noted that Qatar has proposed shortening the seven-day deadline to five days or even less. Iran has agreed to a two-day plan: on the first day, the United States will take a series of compliance measures, and on the second day, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened to restore traffic. Amir-Abdollahian emphasized that as long as the United States adheres to this plan, it can pave the way for peace and restore normalcy in the Strait of Hormuz. Following the U.S. fulfillment of relevant commitments, negotiations between Iran and the U.S. will resume. The conditions proposed by Iran include establishing new shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz, unfreezing Iranian funds, ending regional wars, lifting maritime blockades, granting exemptions for Iranian oil exports, and lifting new sanctions.
