INDODAX Highlights Strengthening of National Crypto Ecosystem at FEKDI x IFSE 2026 - Fintech World
Indodax considers the strengthening of the national crypto ecosystem to be very important for the adoption and literacy of digital finance.
The development of crypto assets and blockchain technology in Indonesia is entering an increasingly broad phase as public adoption rises and innovations based on digital assets evolve. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) recorded that the number of crypto asset consumer accounts reached 22.93 million accounts as of July 2026, with the value of crypto asset trading transactions from January to July 2026 amounting to approximately IDR 171.12 trillion.
This development is also one of the focal points at the Indonesia Digital Financial Economy Festival (FEKDI) x Indonesia Fintech Summit & Expo (IFSE) 2026, which brings together regulators, digital financial industry players, and digital talents to discuss the direction of Indonesia's digital economy and finance development.
In a panel session discussing the risks of using illegal PAKD and securing the AKD ecosystem, INDODAX CEO William Sutanto, who also serves as the Secretary General of the Indonesian Blockchain Association (ABI), assessed that the large user base and the economic value formed indicate that crypto assets now need to be viewed as an increasingly strategic part of Indonesia's digital economy development.
"The crypto industry has significant economic potential and is still continuing to grow. Crypto has a borderless character, allowing people to access various platforms (exchanges) from anywhere. Therefore, the challenge is how the local ecosystem can continue to develop healthily, competitively, and still provide benefits for users and the Indonesian economy," said William on Friday, September 25, 2026.
He also added regarding collaboration and steps that stakeholders can take to strengthen the national crypto ecosystem while curbing the use of illegal PAKD.
"First, of course, literacy for the public, including explaining which platforms are licensed in Indonesia and the risks involved when using illegal platforms. Then, associations, regulators, exchanges, and industry players need to continue discussing to create a healthy level playing field. Exchanges also play an important role as a bridge between the industry and regulators, so the best path taken can still support consumer protection while also fostering industry development," he added.
This direction aligns with the views of the Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, who emphasized that digital financial innovation must move from the experimental stage to implementation that provides real benefits for the real economic sector.
According to her, innovation in the digital financial sector is a machine that should drive the financial system. The OJK is also continuously opening up space for the development of various digital asset innovations through a regulatory sandbox mechanism. Several business models have gone through this process, including gold tokenization, government securities, real estate, stablecoins, digital financial asset custodians, and crypto asset funds.
This development shows that the utilization of blockchain technology is beginning to move beyond crypto asset trading activities. Tokenization of Real World Assets (RWA) opens opportunities to represent various real assets in the form of blockchain-based tokens. The OJK sees this technology as having the potential to increase efficiency, transparency, liquidity, and expand access to financial products.
Friderica added that the development of digital innovation needs to be supported by four main pillars, namely governance and regulation, cybersecurity and consumer protection, digital talent development, and synergy and collaboration among institutions as part of the roadmap for digital financial development.
As a licensed crypto exchange in Indonesia, INDODAX sees this development as a signal that blockchain-based innovations are increasingly integrated into the national financial ecosystem. For sustainable growth, this adoption and growth need to be supported by strong regulations, security, literacy, and collaboration among stakeholders, so that it can provide broader benefits for the national economy.
