Goldman Sachs has released a research report, raising its forecast for global data center capacity in 2030 from 217 GW to 273 GW, a significant increase from approximately 103 GW in 2025, with a compound annual growth rate of about 21%. It is expected that around 170 GW of new data center capacity will be added globally over the next five years, corresponding to a potential capital expenditure of approximately $8.5 trillion, based on an investment of $50 billion per GW. Goldman Sachs has also raised its forecast for U.S. data center capacity in 2030 from 125 GW to 152 GW, anticipating that 103 GW will be added cumulatively after 2025, accounting for about 60% of the global capacity added during the same period. Goldman Sachs believes that the rapid expansion of new cloud service providers like Neocloud to meet GPU demand is one of the key reasons for the upward revision of the U.S. capacity forecast.
