Circle to Feature USDC Logo on Chelsea FC Jerseys Starting in the 2026/27 Season
Men's, Women's, and Academy Jerseys to Showcase USDC Brand
Circle, the issuer of USDC, has entered into a major partnership agreement with Chelsea FC, which will see the Circle and USDC brand logos displayed on the front of the club's jerseys starting in the 2026/27 season.
USDC makes its debut in the world of soccer. Circle is proud to partner with Chelsea FC, one of the most recognized soccer clubs globally. From the 2026/27 season, Circle and USDC will be prominently featured on the front of Chelsea's men's, women's, and academy jerseys. A global game. A global digital dollar. circle.com
The jerseys will be worn by the men's, women's, and academy teams, with the men's team expected to debut the new branded jerseys during their Premier League home game against Brighton at Stamford Bridge. The details regarding the contract amount and duration have not been disclosed by either party.
USDC Aims to Engage Global Soccer Fans
Jeremy Allaire, co-founder and CEO of Circle, explained that USDC was built with the aim of enabling funds to function seamlessly across the globe, much like information on the internet. He stated that the partnership with Chelsea allows them to connect with a global sports community that shares a similar vision of crossing borders.
Chelsea also views this agreement as a partnership that goes beyond merely displaying a logo on a jersey. Todd Klein, president of the commercial department, explained that while Circle aims to change the flow of global funds, Chelsea is also striving to redefine what it means to be a global soccer club.
Circle's branding will apply not only to the men's first team but also to the women's team and the academy. Chelsea Women are set to wear jerseys featuring the Circle and USDC brand logos in their inaugural season at Stamford Bridge.
As of the end of Q2, the total circulation of USDC reached $73.3 billion, a 19% increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, the on-chain transaction volume during the same three months reached $14.8 trillion (approximately ¥2.36 trillion).
Established After FCA Warning, Circle Clarifies "Not a Promotion of Financial Products"
This agreement was announced about three months after the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) issued a warning to Premier League clubs regarding questionable sponsorship agreements with unlicensed financial operators.
The FCA pointed out that unlicensed companies, including those related to cryptocurrencies, could target soccer fans through sponsorship agreements, potentially violating UK financial services law. Meanwhile, Circle's UK entity, Circle UK Trading Limited, has been authorized by the FCA since 2018 to provide specific financial services to residents.
While stablecoins like USDC are considered legal for use in the UK, Circle states that USDC itself is not issued or regulated under UK law. A spokesperson for Circle explained that this sponsorship is not a promotion of financial products but aims to build brand image. Circle's announcement also includes a note stating that it does not solicit or entice the acquisition, holding, or trading of cryptocurrencies or the use of financial services.
