Changes in Exports 2026: Lithium Enters the Top 10, Automotive Exits the Podium
The export ranking by sector in the first half of 2026 showed significant changes. The soybean complex remained the main source of foreign exchange, with sales of 9.082 billion dollars, an increase of 5.7% compared to 2025. More than 85% of these exports corresponded to soybean meal and oil, with India, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Saudi Arabia as the main destinations. However, the share of soybeans in total exports decreased from 21.6% to 18.3%. The oil and petrochemical complex ranked second, with its share increasing from 14.2% to 16.4%. Energy exports grew by 43.7% year-on-year, reaching 8.116 billion dollars, driven by high prices and production in Vaca Muerta. The corn complex displaced the automotive sector from third place, with an annual increase of 6.9% and destinations such as Vietnam, Algeria, and Peru. Automotive exports grew by 4.7%, dominated by pick-ups, with Brazil as the main destination. Lithium entered the Top 10 for the first time, with exports increasing by 186.3% to 1.126 billion dollars, with China as its main buyer. There was also an increase in exports of gold, silver, and sunflower, while the fishing sector declined.
