CFTC to Hold Roundtable on 24/7 Trading Mechanism on December 15
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will hold an industry roundtable on December 15 to discuss the feasibility of implementing 24/7 trading in the derivatives market. The meeting will take place at the CFTC's headquarters in Washington, D.C., and will be open to the public via live stream. Discussions will focus on topics such as overnight trading, asset tokenization, infrastructure development, staffing, and operational readiness, aiming to promote financial innovation while protecting the rights of market participants and maintaining the integrity and resilience of the U.S. derivatives market. CFTC Chairman Rostin Behnam stated that the regulatory body will not adopt a one-size-fits-all approach to 24/7 trading but hopes to develop trading mechanisms for different asset classes in a prudent and responsible manner by listening to feedback from various industry stakeholders. Specific agenda, speakers, and registration information will be announced later.
