Canada to Provide Ukraine with CAD 757 Million for Gas and Energy Projects
Canada will provide Ukraine with CAD 757 million (approximately USD 548 million) for gas purchases and winter preparations, as well as CAD 210 million (approximately USD 152 million) to support the energy sector. This was announced following the signing of a joint statement on deepening energy cooperation. Canada will allocate CAD 757 million through programs of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for emergency natural gas purchases and stockpiling. Dialogue will also continue regarding long-term agreements for liquefied natural gas supplies from Canada to Ukraine. Additionally, Canada will direct CAD 10 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, increasing the total contribution to CAD 100 million. Ukraine and Canada will develop a strategic partnership.
