Air Tanzania Suspends Flights to Russia from September 4

By: delo.ua|2026/09/04 09:20:30

Air Tanzania has announced the suspension of flights to Russia for safety reasons starting September 4. The airline's press service stated that the decision was made following a scheduled risk assessment in the flight operation zone. Air Tanzania conducts such checks regularly, and if the results indicate a need for a pause, the company takes it. Safety concerns take precedence over commercial interests. Air Tanzania began operating regular flights to Russia in early July 2026. The first flight arrived at Vnukovo Airport on July 2, marking the start of direct communication between the countries. Flights were operated on the route Dar es Salaam — Moscow — Zanzibar with a frequency of three times a week, but the air service was suspended two months after its launch. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that flights over Russian territory are becoming increasingly dangerous due to Ukraine's response to Russian aggression. He urged airlines to consider new risks associated with the activity of Ukrainian drones in Russian airspace. Following Zelensky's warning about closing the skies over Russia, Turkish airlines began canceling flights to Moscow, including Pegasus, which canceled a flight from Bodrum to Moscow.
