Accel Raises $3.5 Billion to Establish Four Funds for Early-Stage AI Startups
Global venture capital firm Accel has raised a new fund of $3.5 billion, aiming to invest in early-stage companies worldwide. The fundraising includes four funds: a Global Expansion Fund of $1.35 billion, primarily for larger early rounds and follow-on investments; a U.S. fund and a Europe and Israel fund, each with $800 million; and an India fund of $550 million. Accel partner Harry Nelis stated that the speed at which companies are raising funds in their early stages has increased, presenting opportunities for investors, but risks still remain. AI companies that Accel has invested in include Anthropic, Cursor, and Perplexity.
